Early Years:
I was born in Houma, LA on June 2, 1962 at 6:02 A.M. I was raised "down da bayou" (lower Terrebonne Parish) in a small community named Bourg. I attended a private Kindergarten school, then attended Bourg Elementary through 4th Grade. I attended Montegut Middle School in grades 5-7. After the summer of my 7th grade year, I moved to Houma with my Aunt and Uncle. I attended 8th and 9th grades at Evergreen Junior High in Houma. I attended H. L. Bourgeois High School in Gray, LA for 10th - 12 th grade. I graduated from H.L.B in May of 1980.
Middle Years:
I married right out of High School to my High School sweet heart. I was very young (18), but thought I knew it all. At 21, I had my first child, a girl (Princess). At 23, my oldest son was born (Gaming Geek). At 24, my youngest son was born (Mighty Marine), and alas, at 26, my youngest daughter was born (Thrifty Girl). All of my children were born in Thibodaux, LA except for the youngest. She was born in Dallas, Texas....a time when we tried to move away from South, LA. Didn't work....after 2 years, we were right back in good ole LA. After my youngest daughter was born, I decided to go back to school. Except for birth to 5 and 19 to 26, I have been in school every year other year of my life. HA! At age 29, I divorced my high school sweet heart and focused all of my energy on my children and a career. At age 30 (1993), I received a BA in Education from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA. After graduating from Nicholls, I began teaching at Berwick Elementary in August of 1993. With 4 young children in school, I finally moved to St. Mary Parish in the summer of 1995. The commute was killing me. During the following years, I continued my education. I received a M.Ed from the University of Southern Mississippi in School Counseling. I just graduated from Northwestern State University (May, 2013) with an Educational Specialist Degree with an emphasis in Special Education. On top of 3 full blown degrees, I completed + 45 graduate hours mostly in Math and Science content, assessment, and leadership classes. In 2005, I became a "Grammy" for the first time. My first grandson was born to my oldest daughter, then she surprised me with my second grandson in 2006. On May 30, 2011, I became Grammy again to our sweet lil angel...born to my youngest daughter and her boyfriend. He passed away shortly before birth; however, he is never left out when I'm bragging about my grandchildren. Through it all, I have persevered. It hasn't been easy, but it has been interesting.
My "Senior Moments"
Yes, this year (2012), according to AARP, I am officially a senior adult. I'm 50 years old - half a century - 5 decades. OMG, where has time gone. Since 2006, I have been preparing for a major change in my life; however, nothing has transpired. Maybe I'm in one of those "wishful thinking" phases, and this is it...I'll lived out the rest of my days in St. Mary Parish in good ole South LA. Who knows? Therefore, this part is still "under construction." I will update as my life continues.....Que, Sera, Sera!
Update: Whoop!
"The Susan" has resigned her position with St. Mary Parish Schools, and accepted a position with the Jefferson Parish School System as an Educational Diagnostician. Look out NOLA, the "coon ass" is coming to town. Pahahahaha. Yippppeeeee!
