Lazy and Adventous Weekend

I guess it is a perfect weekend to be lazy, since it is Labor Day weekend. The whole point of having Labor Day off is to refrain from work and have some fun! Well, I do not know about fun, but I sure have been lazy. Yesterday, I slept late :), then I went to Thibodaux to collect my cosmetics bag I had left at my aunts house. I stayed with my buddy so that my aunt could go get some shopping done. I sat in the living room, while my buddy ate her breakfast, and I read the newspaper and clipped coupons. I really need to start doing that again. I used to save a boat load of money clipping coupons, but as my life has become increasingly complicated, I just let it go. So I have decided to go back to being frugal. I used to be so good at it, but lately it like it is too much trouble, but ya know.....I only have 8 years before I retire. I need to get outta debt and plan for retirement before it is too late...HA! So that is my new goal....get outta debt, and get back to bargain hunting! Anyway, after my aunt returned, I sat and visited, then I decided to head home. On my way back, I said...."Shoot, I don't feel like staying in the house! I've been inside all week!" So, instead of turning right on Hwy. 90 (heading back to Berwick), I turned left, and headed to my beloved NOLA. I love that place. People look at me like I'm nuts, but I really love that city. Although the city fared well during Hurricane Isaac, I had to see that for my self. I was going to post some pictures, but I wasn't ready for what I found. Not much damage.....lots of signs toppled over, awning bent up, small debris every where; however, I forgot that 70% of the city was still without power. So, Susan was riding along.....lalalalalalal.....oh, oh.....I need to potty! Guess what, no power.....no place to stop and use the bathroom!!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Panic set in. Another thing I had not thought of......dummy......if there is no power, why might that be??? Here in LA, all of our power lines are on poles, up in the air! Needless to say, they are not up in the air now! So, lalalalalal.....Susan needs to use the bathroom, nothing is open, and because of electrical poles down, and blocked roads, I got so lost......I didn't know where  I was!!!! You may be thinking....mais Susan, use your fancy GPS......der.....I WAS, but with all the block roads and road closures it was useless!!!!! Too make matter worse, my phone was slowly dieing. I had planned to stop at a Walmart and pick up a new charger, but those plans were dashed because THERE WAS NO POWER!!!! So let me recap my dilemma.....Susan is in NOLA (being nosy), Susan had to use the bathroom, there is nothing open due to massive power outages due to toppled electrical lines, Susan gets lost, can't use GPS, phone is dieing, and the phone charger is broken. The only thing I had going for me was I had gas in the van, but I had to watch that closely because I did realize I was lost, and I needed to make sure I got UN lost so that I kept enough gas in my tank to get home.Ugh! So, finally after 2 hours of "being nosy" in NOLA, I spotted something familiar. Could it be.......yes, the Westbank Expressway!!!!! Don't ask how I ended up on the Westbank.....I have no clue! Ok, so now I'm in pain! I need to use the bathroom NOW! So knowing NOLA, like I know NOLA. I know one place that is surely open. Harrahs Casino....downtown NOLA. I jump on the Expressway and head toward the city. Guess what?! I was right! I zoom into the parking garage, park, and literally ran to the elevator. (Side note: There were 3 people in the elevator who were out celebrating their birthdays, in true NOLA hospitality, we sang them happy birthday 7 floors down the ride in the elevator HA....see why I love this city). I was the first one out of the elevator. I never walked so fast through that tunnel and to the bathroom....phew, I made it. Relieved. Ahhhhhh. Well, after my mad dash to the potty, I'm standing in Harrahs. I figured, since I was here, I just as soon eat, and make a deposit.....HA. So I went eat, and sat and played a little while. It was ok I guess, but I did miss my friend. He loved coming to Harrahs. It just wasn't the same without him. :( So after a while, I headed out. The city was full of National Guard troops. It brought back painful memories of Katrina as I road by the Convention Center; however, it was nice to see all of the National Guard trucks lined up. I knew my NOLA and it's residents were being taken care of. I took my time getting home. When I got home, I made me some soup, played on the computer, and finally fell asleep. What an adventure...HA! My plans for the rest of the weekend is simple, today I will be working on NSU work, and tomorrow, I will be working on school work. I think I've had enough of an adventure for one weekend.
